The Brave Heart Shield Ring
Brave Heart Size 8.5
This Persian Turquoise with Pyrite inclusions is a stunner! It's hard to capture the beauty of this chunk of stone in photos. Persian Turquoise has been mined and used in jewelry possibly as early as 2100 B.C. Persia was an essential stop along the fabled Silk Road, from there turquoise made its way to Europe and Asia to adorn royalty and warriors alike. In nomadic cultures Turquoise was referred to as the "Horse Stone" and adorning horse and rider with turquoise protected both from harm in battle. It was also fabeld that exposing turquoise to the light of a New Moon would infuse the gem with luck, bringing many good things to its owner.
With this bold shield design I wanted to do this majestic stone justice and celebrate its rugged beauty and proud heritage. I chose a border setting of textured heavy silver with spokes pointing to the four cardinal directions and dark patina to make the stone pop. The wide shank is constructed for comfort and features a band with hand stamped detail. The silver was oxidized, tumbled and polished to a reflective shine to compliment the Pyrite.
"Brave" and a little heart are stamped on the inside of the band, a personal reminder to stay strong and kind in equal measure.
This statement ring has a good weight and is comfortable to wear and built to last a lifetime.
